If any trial lawyer does a class action law suit or what we call a Public Interest Litigation, the US government should be in lot trouble. Because no one is questioning, they are passing on. I was also told by a SWA high official, that there is a provision, that you can opt out of deduction of SS Tax and Medicare, if you are on H1.
I want to focus on core IV goals. I will not post any further on this SS Tax issue. But, my last word is: dual intent is dangerous and applicants will be denied visa and entry into US. So, readers be careful. You have a non-immigrant visa.

The following are the reason for Eb3 situation.
Anyone who have 3 year or 4 year degree can apply. So Other country also there is a demand. So it is nearly impossible to get other country quota. For a few thousand green cards atleast 100k persons might have applied till 2008 in EB3. So there is not much chance for improvement. It may move a few months to 2 years in 2009.If some bill is passed then most persons will get relief. But still some chances for recapture bill in house. But the reaction at Senate to be seen. Next year they may give a best attempt for CIR so that Congressmen will get a chance to do overtime also for hot news in Media. As usual CIR is unpredictable at best.
EB3 does not require a 4 year degree. It consists of people helping in cooking, full time baby sitters from third world countries, helpers in grocery stores, farm workers, nurses, etc as well. This is why the participation of EB3 folks here is very less and IV attracts only the technical work force. I would suggest a mass campaign to attract this crowd as well to IV for support. Even if they are brought, due to the low wage rate I do not think how much of contribution that will result for IV.

A freind of mine called. He did NOT hear such thing from NSC. He even refefrenced this discussion
I have talked to a representative and he very patiently explained me about the mess.
He clearly and very clearly told me that they have a deadline to send all receipts for June end and July 2nd filers by friday (tomorrow) or worst case monday.
He mentioned that they are working hard to meet this deadline.
Hope this clears the anxiety.

Hey guys,
My name is Debasish and I live in Santa Monica near UCLA. I think we all should get together and do something to mobilize our chapter here in So-Cal area. We all know that there are a lot of people who are on H1B and have applied for their GC. But they are waiting....
For myself, I have applied for my GC and still waiting for the I-140. Don't know what they are doing in the TSC???
So the idea should be to get them invloved...Somebody has rightly put it that we do not have a collective voice and that's why we are ignored...

So the smart senator will force more jobs to be outsourced. These jobs will never comeback once gone. If we look back at the 2000 recession, it caused a major shift in the way US companies looked at outsourcing. Pre-2000 many companies didn't believe that all jobs could be outsourced. 2000 recession forced them to think otherwise.
These kind of bills will cause a re-thinking in corporate america's thought process. They will think of creative ways to outsource. Against this senator's hopes, it will reduce jobs here.

I am not supporting this bill in anyway, I hate infy as much as I hate this bill. Remember these companies did not leave any stone unturned, milked the client every possible way and expoilted the employees to the maximum extent. In one another post - VLDRao was saying these companies does the tax filing on behalf the emoloyee, get the refund and again claim that tax in india using double taxation aoivdance treaty.

Well, one or two of us are dispensible but if unite in our effort, then we definitely become indespensible....did we really make an impact by making those thousands of phone calls for the lame duck?.....the fact is that an average american doesn't give a ***** about whether we get our green cards or not because they don't even know our pains.....and the government has too many other trivial and not so trivial issues to deal with than worry about us......lobbying is a good idea but we are still not getting the attention we should be getting......do you think they can really abolish the h1b program?.......foreign workers have become the veins and arteries of these companies and unless until you stop the blood supply, no body is going to even notice.......the dependency on foreign workers is more today that it was a decade ago just because of the sheer volume.

please post ideas on how we can all collectively address such issues. We have to spread awareness, get attention from law makers, remove the fear instilled into minds of people, guide people in the right direction.
Ideas and suggestions are welcome.
I would say we should start with local congressional office. Every case whether it is resolved or not should be taken to the attention of local congressional office.
If members volunteer to do this, we could distribute districts among ourselves and take care of each district's congressional office. In that way we could raise the awareness among the lawmakers. I do agree that not every office will be friendly to immigrants like my district's congressional office, but we have to try.

I understand that the visa allotment process is constrained by the laws passed by the Congress, USCIS should also understand that applicants from retrogressed countries that have spent significant years of their careers waiting without any indication or guidelines as to when their dates will be current. I am sure everyone will understand the futility of waiting in a line where your position keeps increasing or decreasing every month with no end in sight.
It will help us make concrete long term decisions if you could provide the following information for the retrogressed countries.
-- number of pending EB1, EB 3 and EB 2 AOS cases per year for retrogressed countries from 1999-2008.
-- number of unallocated EB visas from 1996-2007
