I see that a lot of us feel really stuck because of the long GC process and yet we continue to wait. Eventually we all want to have:
1. Freedom to switch jobs
2. Freedom to start businesses
3. Freedom to travel
4. Freedom to have spouse working
I hope and pray that it comes thru sooner than later for all of us. Let's say you get your GC in 1-2-x years. How many years after that would you go back? 2-3 or wait till you get US citizenship? Would you give up the GC after having spent 5+ years waiting and maybe a total of 8-10+ years in US?
For those of us who are thinking that I want to go back eventually, what steps do you plan to take once you get your GC? The reason I raise this question is, it was easy to adapt to a new place when you were young. 6-10 years later (and a couple of kids later :-) what are some of the things you intend to do make your transition homewards easier? Has anyone considered taking on positions with significant travel to India(or your home country) so that you can get accustomed to the lifestyle/work environment/business back home?
For me: Wait another 5-7 years, in the meantime yes, considering taking on positions with significant travel to India (where I am from). Investing and paying for building a home/apartment.

That comment was made for Family Visas, since everyone who applies on Family Visa, might not eventually get it. I read here that King said that everyon on EAD and AP is getting a free ride even thought here green card might get rejected. What does he mean by that. I tahught every process goes thorugha security check. such as I 140, H1b, AP and even EAD.

Yes we all are frustrated, but one thing we can do is contribute to IV. Let IV core have some resources in hand to implement strategies they have thought of for advancement of our cause.

Till last year EB 3 would get additional visa from the leftovers of ROW, both EB2 and EB 3-I would benefit from the ROW visia, now all the visas are going to EB2, so i agree with you, there is little hope for EB 3.
Why are there no repurcussions if USCIS admits that they were incorrectly allocating the visa earlier. they can suddenly change the rules and everybody keeps quiet....strange.

Recapture is actually a non controvertial issue and most politicians support it in private. The business lobby was sucessful in getting it done (btw the democrats opposed it even then). These days we have the sword of 'amnesty' hanging over everything related to immigration plus the positions are so polarized that it is impossible to get anything done. The lame duck presidency isnt helping either, each congressman/senator has to worry about its own agenda and their people.
With the internet every little bit of information is distributed immediately and the opposing forces can easly create noise to drown it...that in a nutshell is why nothing is working for us.
As mpadapa mentions people satisfied with EAD/AP think that life is good and dont want to help. When people wait in EB3 for 7-8 years and renew EAD/AP for 4-5 times like i have, they will understand. Untill then we hope and pray and call

I think I am in a similar situation with you.Me and my kids are also separated from my wife for almost a year now. It was really a big mistake on my part not to join her on her Embassy interview thinking visas were plentiful.BIG MISTAKE. I was at that time not well informed about visa availability.Our PD is Nov 05 and I am from the Philippines. I do feel what you feel. It is an emotional roller coaster ride. Are you derivative beneficiaries of your wife's Sched A petition and what country are you from? If you dont mind me asking.

Is this employment authorization re: the EADs we get, or employment authorization in general for immigrants?
No. it was talk about validating employment for legal immigrants at the workplace. I-9 etc... They just worded it as "Employment authorization"

Theres one going on in mine..and guess what..20 contributions in a couple of hours.

Can we use the I-485 receipt notice for extension of DL for my wife. She was on H4 which expires Oct 20. She plans to use the EAD card to work and we will not extend her H4 unless EAD does not come before Oct 20. She got a letter from DMV yesterday asking for additional proof for extended stay. Also will EAD suffice as evidence?
We live in California.

i believe the way it is going to proceed is if they don't have time to discuss everything they will discuss the rest in the senate floor. however if the conflicting ones like illegal aliens one, enforcement ones are resolved then this bill might go to the floor and the remaining ones would be discussed. hence if till tile 3 is over then this bill might be considered for vote on teh senate floor. this is my understnading based on what i heard.
