You make it sound like they care about you and are doing this slowly to get everybody on board, sorry to burst the bubble but chances are they were able to apply the right pressure at the right places and get this passed.
Fashion models and Sport personnel and EB-5 folks are few in numbers and will go unnoticed by their constituents. Other EB categories are comparatively huge. So I suppose that congress is treading carefully. If the bills does not go though the subcommittee and full ones, opponents will debate that the bill was sneaked in or piggy backed or pushed through. Hopefully something will emerge before the presidential elections. Lets not loose hope and try our best. Anything after the elections will be bound to be bogged down by CIR...

I have a question about a unique situation of getting stuck in BEC and applying 485 with a newer PERM case. If LC is stuck in BEC at this time, but the person has a new PERM+140 from a different location and applies 485. Can this person change the priority date of 485 when the old LC from BEC gets approved, and 140 approved, to the BEC PD?

I am about to switch jobs using EAD. I am worried that if my current employer revokes my 140, CIS may by mistake cancel my pending AOS. I am mentally prepared for this and talk to lawyer to be ready to file MTR in this case. However here is my question.
1. Will this immediately cancel my EAD? if so, I may have to resign.
2. If I continue working while filling for MTR, will it be illegal?
3. How much it costs to go thru' MTR process? How long it takes?
I read on some other website that denying 485 doesn't automatically cancel your EAD. Any inputs?

I don't know what to tell you guys.. I'm surprised to see how some people's thought process work.
I have no Idea what's wrong in requesting USCIS to release some data which would tell how many applications they received of which chargeability and in which EB categories’ This is the only information needed to stop predicting, everybody here can make almost exact estimate when they can expect their application Adjudicated. And also in the mean time they should provide us assurance that they will issue EADs and APs in less than 90 days. We are in a foreign country and we need to travel to our home countries, if we are stuck with 1 year approvals our file is always in process, how do you plan a trip ???
Death in the family is the only reason they recognize as urgency for travel.
We are Humans, we have family back in our home countries, marriage in the family or family visit is also urgent..
To ask this you don’t need citizen rights you are asking a public agency a service which they are supposed to provide and they are charging us to do that...

Also they have other issues to deal with. There is a rush of naturalization applications last year. Similarly when crop season comes, they tend to agricultural workers visas. In these cases, staff is diverted from one paper mount to other. After getting the GC, let us apply for positions in DOL/USCIS and bring some positive process change internally.

This was directed to people who were current. If you are from India, China, Mexico, Philippines, get used to waiting. Your backlog is due to numerical limits. And this won't change (the way I see it)
Yes, it appears people on this forum are still confused about backlogs due to unavailable visa numbers and backlog due to CIS having too many 485s to process.

Login to your bank account (This is for BoA)
Go to Bill Pay>>Payees>>Add a Payee
You will see two options
1)Pay a company
2) Pay an Individual
Click the GO button next to Pay an Individual (without entering any information)
In the next page
You will see a small form
Payee- is the name- in whose favor the check will be made
Nickname is for your reference
In Identifying information- you can put your handle
Rest is obvious
Payee creation is one time setup
Once you have created a payee
Go to Bill Pay>>Overview
and here you will see an option to make a payment

The bill being discussed in the senate if passed is going to be very detrimental to people that are stuck in the labor backlog centers. They wil be forced to redo their labor with the new point based system. That is not fair at all.

If not this bus then the next bus . No use raising your blood pressure for this . Attorneys and the media have a habit of scaring people unnecessarily . H1B petition can be revoked automatically if a) employer notifies USCIS that the petition is withdrawn or b) employer goes out of business. See 8 CFR 214.2.(b)(11). So yes, EAD is much safer in this regard. Revoked H1B petition cannot be used for transfer/extension. It's nice to have H1B as a fallback, but it's not a safe heaven.

The current Priority date based Labor application system makes the most higly skilled immigrants bonded laborers where the employers can exploit them. This especially happens to people who are highly intelligent but donot try short routes to Green card and do not think of jumbing ahead of others in the que or moving to other companies to get green card processed faster. Reality dawn sonly when nearing the six year completion date of H1B.
We need to change this unjust immigration system so that atleast in future merit gets rewarded and people who really deserve get their green card.

Just thought let me update my case here.
I filed my 485 on July 2nd @ NSC and my checks got cleared yesterday (8/11/07). So as per murthy's coment I tried looking @ back of the checks to get my LIN #'s and I was able to trace it in the USCIS web site and it shows "Application received and the Receipt notice mailed".
So I feel like they are aggressively working on the applications which are filed on July 2nd and hopefully everyone will get their Receipt notice by end of this week.
Hope this will help many people and give a good hopes.
